Brainard Ave Watermain Replacement

Brainard Avenue from 47th Street to Ogden Ave is scheduled for watermain replacement.  Segments of the watermain vary in size from 6 inches to 12 inches, with components installed in the 1900's exceeding 120 years old.  During the summer and fall of 2023, work will commence and the watermain will be excavated, primarily in the east/parking lane segment of the roadway and replaced with new watermain.  The work will be completed by open-cut and horizontal directional drilling methods.  Brainard Avenue's entire road width is expected to be resurfaced in the spring/summer of 2024 as part of a Federal Aid Eligible project.  As part of this project, temporary asphalt patching will be used to restore the driving surface.

An informational Public Meeting will be held at 53 S. La Grange Road (Village Hall) on Wednesday, May 24th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM for open discussion and to address any project concerns. All residents are encouraged to come.

A FAQ has been produced to help address common questions that may arise during the project.

For questions or concerns at any time throughout the project, your primary point of contact is Mr. Peter Anderson at panderson@baxterwoodman.com, or 773-225-7595. The Resident Engineer is overseeing the day-to-day operations of the project on behalf of the Village.

Residents that are interested in having their water line replaced can do so for a cost of $6,500 *Terms Apply.  In cases where the existing service is lead, the Illinois Lead Service Line Replacement and Notification Act requires that water service lines be replaced with copper to eliminate the lead hazard.  Residents may opt out, but will be required to sign a Waiver as required by the Act.
