JULIE

Call JULIE before you dig

As residents make plans for home improvements, the Village would like to remind homeowners and contractors to call JULIE (Joint Utility Locating Information for Excavators) prior to digging to prevent damage to underground utility lines causing injury or service outages. JULIE is a non-profit corporation that provides excavators with free locating and marking of underground utilities.

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission established 811 as a number that people can call from anywhere in the country to have underground utility lines identified and marked before they begin their excavation project. Callers to 811 will be routed automatically to the appropriate one-call center in their state. You may also call 1-800-892-0123.

More information is available at JULIE's website. This is a joint public service announcement from the Fire and Community Development Department.
